The Arena
Hornet Sentinel's arena in Kingdom's Edge has spike pits on both sides. You can fall into them for damage. Stay toward the center of the arena and be aware of your positioning at all times.
Watch the edges — there are spike pits on both sides of this arena. Don't chase Hornet too far left or right or you'll walk into spikes. Fight in the center and let her come to you.
Hornet's Attack Patterns
Hornet Sentinel uses the same core attacks as Greenpath Hornet, but faster and with additions.
Returning attacks
- Lunge: She dashes horizontally at you. Jump over and downstrike for a pogo bounce. Punish with 1-2 hits as she recovers.
- Aerial dive: She jumps and dives at an angle. Dash under her and punish from behind.
- Thread throw: She throws her needle on a thread. Jump over the thread and close distance while she's pulling it back.
Lunge incoming — jump now and pogo off her head. She recovers slowly from the lunge, so you can get 2 nail hits after landing. Don't chase too far or you'll hit the spike pit.
New attacks
- Spike ball traps: In phase 2, Hornet throws spike balls that stick to the floor and ceiling. These persist for a while and shrink the safe area of the arena.
- Parry stance: She occasionally stops and parries. If you hit her during this, she counters with a fast slash. Don't attack when she holds still with thread wrapped around her.
She's in parry stance — DON'T attack. Wait for her to drop it and then punish. If you hit her during parry, she counters instantly and you take damage.
Phase 2
Below ~65% health, Hornet speeds up and starts throwing spike ball traps.
- Arena gets smaller. The spike balls reduce safe ground. Destroy them with nail strikes when you have a window.
- She's faster. Same attacks but shorter recovery windows. Only go for 1 hit per punish, not 2.
- Use spells. Vengeful Spirit or Shade Soul during her recovery windows deals safe damage from range.
Phase 2 — she's faster now and throwing spike balls. Clear the spike balls when you can, they shrink your safe space. Use Shade Soul during her lunge recovery for safe ranged damage.
When to Heal
Hornet is aggressive. Your heal windows are:
- After her thread throw (she pulls the needle back slowly)
- After her lunge (if you dodged far enough, you have time for 1 heal)
- When she staggers (she staggers periodically and falls to the ground for ~2 seconds)
Do NOT try to heal during her parry stance or between her fast combo strings.
Recommended Loadout
- Quick Slash — faster nail attacks for short punish windows
- Shaman Stone — stronger Shade Soul for ranged damage
- Mark of Pride — longer nail reach to hit her from safer distance
- Stalwart Shell — longer invincibility after getting hit (forgiving for mistakes)

Hornet Sentinel is a speed check. She uses familiar attacks from the Greenpath fight but faster, with spike ball traps that shrink the arena. Stay centered, respect the parry stance, and use spells for safe damage. Let Sidekick AI call out attack wind-ups so you can react instead of guess.
