Two bosses in one
Rennala is unusual. Phase 1 is a puzzle, not a fight. Phase 2 is a real fight but against a glass cannon. Most players struggle with phase 1 mechanics (it's confusing the first time) and phase 2 summon management (the dragon is terrifying).
Ignore the students throwing books. Look for the one on the ground floor with the golden glow. That's your target.
Phase 1: the library
You need to break Rennala's bubble shield three times. Each time, find the glowing student on the ground floor, hit them, and the shield drops. Then rush to Rennala and deal as much damage as you can before she floats back up.
Tips for phase 1
- The glowing student changes position each cycle
- The chandelier drops after the first shield break. Watch the ceiling.
- Students' books hurt but won't kill you. Don't waste time fighting them.
- Sprint to Rennala immediately when she falls. The damage window is short.
Shield's down. Sprint to her now. Get in as much damage as you can before she floats back up. Jump attacks for the stagger.
Phase 2: the sorcery arena
Rennala teleports you to a moon-lit arena. She casts sorceries, summons spirits, and fires a massive beam. But she has very low health and almost no poise.
Her main attacks
- Comet barrage. Sprint sideways to avoid.
- Full Moon beam. Roll through it at the last second.
- Spirit summons (wolves, dragon, giants). Sprint away and wait for them to despawn.
- Spinning sorcery. Close distance and punish after it ends.
She's summoning. Don't fight the summons. Sprint to the edge and wait. They'll disappear in about 10 seconds. Then rush her while she's recovering.
Summary
Rennala is a tempo boss. Phase 1 is about finding the target fast and maximizing each damage window. Phase 2 is about patience during summons and aggression during her casting recovery. Sidekick AI is especially useful here because the phase 1 puzzle is confusing on a first attempt and voice guidance eliminates the "what am I supposed to do?" moment.
